ABOUT US

We develop innovative instruments, consumables, software and support services for the radiocarbon laboratories.

UAB Barnas was founded in 1994 by the scientists of the former Institute of Physics for commercialization of scientific results and development of innovations in the field of nuclear physics and mass spectrometry.

In English A «barn» is a metric unit used for expressing the effective cross-sectional area of nuclei and nuclear reactions. This moto leading company through the years reflects an idea of our products – every high quality instrument and tool is created to raise performance of radiocarbon laboratories all over the world.

UAB Barnas has a team of highly skilled professionals and most of them are PhD in physics, chemistry or engineering. With a focus on innovation, we are constantly exploring new ideas and technologies to stay ahead of the curve and provide our customers with the most effective solutions.

CERTIFICATES

Company established quality management system for provisions of analytical mass spectrometry services, research project management and scientific instruments development and commercialisation which is certified by international ISO 9001:2015 standard. Company‘s certified envronmental management system comforms  ISO 14001:2015 international standard requirements.

PROJECTS

UAB Barnas runs number of innovation and business development projects, partialy supported by EU funding programs and National funds.

Implementation of e-commerce solutions in UAB “Barnas” activities No. 13.1.1-LVPA-K-860-01-0603 dedicated to create platform for easier accesibility and promotion of mass spectrometry services in the electronic space. Project value 44 900,00 Eur. Read more>>>

R&D and commercialization project „Development of ultra-small sample graphitization system (CORgiS)“ implemented by State Research Institute Center for Physical Sciences and Technology where UAB Barnas takes partner role, responsible for engineering and technology commercialisation activities. Project value 99 400,00 Eur.
Developing a commercially viable prototype of the graphitization system through R&D cooperation. The prototype will have the highest quality of sample preparation, will require less carbon for sample preparation and will be suitable for work in real conditions.

Development of technology for determining biobased carbon content in the materials (CO2 CONTROL).
The goal of the project is to develop a technology that will allow industrial companies to ensure that the materials and raw materials used in their production (solid, liquid and gaseous) are sufficiently neutral in terms of CO2 emissions, as declared by the material suppliers. Monitoring based on this technology will help industrial enterprises to reduce the amount of CO2 pollution from fossil fuel.
